Happy Bucks:

Steve S – sitting at a table of “all hotties”. Also glad to see so many perspective members.

Kim McC – sitting at a table of tall, dark and handsome looking guys and husband Jim. Congrats to Jim for losing 20 lbs. in his lifestyle changes.

Candice M – won the King of Hearts last week. Purchased 2 tanks of gas, tags for the mustang, lunch today and still has $5.00 left

Beth H – mom had surgery and is doing great. The kidney was able to be saved

Bill V – glad to be back from the south. Had a tough winter, but things are getting better. Florida was getting “sultry”. Verna has had some health concerns, but is managing to get around fairly well.

Emily B – mom (Stephanie) did a great job as our program. Juggled a lot of stuff to be here.

Becky W – happy for elevators. She blew out her achilles tendon playing softball.

Fine: Michelle S for not mentioning Kiwanis in a newspaper article

50/50: table ticket won the first, Ashley (Elga CU) won the second

Program –

Stephanie Barber – radio personality from Cars 108 and US 103.1 gave us a great program. Started with her history as a young mother who received a scholarship from Zonta club and went to Detroit College of Business. After graduating, she got an internship at a radio station. She fell in love with the business and eventually went on full time as “on air” talent. Over the past few years, she has moved into morning drive time show on CARS 108 and does afternoons at US 103 in Lapeer. She gave us a lot of great insight as to some of the “rock stars” that she has met. She says they are all pretty great people. She does her show prep the day before the next show using lots of resources. She does not really appreciate getting up at 3 am to go to work, but it is getting easier.

It was a great program and now we know where Emily gets her personality.

Things I have learned as I get older:

·         By the time we get to November, we are all just voting to “make it stop”.

·         Female spiders eat the male spider after mating. Even they know that it is easier to collect on the life insurance than child support.

·         My birthday suit used to fit much better than this.

·         One of my patients said, “Grandpa's brain is dead, but his heart is still beating.” To which I absentmindedly said, “First time having a politician in the family?”

·         If you have a problem with me hogging the covers … maybe you should get better locks on your doors.

·         Lately I am wondering how bad 4 years WITHOUT a president and congress would be.
