‘LCS, local service organizations team up to get books to kids'
The LEADER Fund, Kiwanis Club of Lapeer, the Optimist Club of Lapeer and the Lapeer Rotary Club all contributed to the cost of books for kids.
“Kara Lambourn, president of the Kiwanis Club of Lapeer, said that Watson, a fellow Kiwanian, knew the club was looking for a way to stay connected and “continue the good work” it does for the community. “We are very limited with what we are able to do right now in the community, so an initiative like this was a perfect match,” she said. “Helping kids grow and succeed is at the heart of everything we do.” Lambourn said the club is “grateful” for the chance to lend support to something as important as fostering reading skills. “I think it’s important that we all work together as a community to offer any sort of remote learning assistance we can during this time.”
