In 1989 Kiwanis House was officially dedicated as a Whaley Group Home. Kiwanis House serves emotionally disturbed children who may have suffered neglect, physical abuse and or sexual abuse. It is specifically designed to provide the strong support and structure that is key to helping emotionally disturbed children’s family environment. LapeerCounty saw eight murders related to Domestic Violence in 1990. The following year a group of concerned citizens organized LACADA. With financial help from United Way, Zonta, Family Independence Agency, and VOCA (Victims of Crime Act), LACADA began operations September 1, 1991. In the beginning, LACADA was primarily run by volunteers from the community. The shelter served 33 women and 43 children in its first year. Since the inception, LACADA has grown significantly to enhance services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Inspiring Hearts for Autism
We’re Inspiring Hearts for Autism, a 501 (c)(3), and we are currently offering services to the lives of those affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders in Lapeer, Michigan, as well as our neighbors. In our county alone, we serve three cities, seven villages and eighteen townships. We neighbor six counties and have many families that have had no place to turn. We are often the first line of support and understanding that these families find and approach. Most let out an audible sigh of relief when they realize they are not alone. And with IHA , our families are never alone, we are a strong and thriving organization that is passionately committed to making a difference in our community and beyond. We invite you to join us on our journey as we continue to grow and provide even more, not only to those families but to our community at large.

Children's Miracle Network
We touch the lives of more children and their families than any other children’s charity. Whether they suffer from common childhood afflictions like asthma and broken bones, or fight bigger challenges like birth defects or cancer, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals provide comfort, treatment and hope to millions of sick kids each year.
Every year, we identify a child with a remarkable medical story from each state. These “Champions” serve as the face for the millions of children treated at our hospitals every year. Our Champions and their families travel to Washington, D.C., and Orlando, Fla. each year to highlight the vital work of children’s hospitals.
