"Duck"orating Contest
JOIN THE FUN and decorate a large rubber duck to reflect the theme of your choosing. All local businesses, organizations, and individuals are invited to participate in our "Duck"orating Contest which will coincide with our Rubber Duck Dash. The large ducks are just $10 to decorate or FREE if you are an annual Supporting Sponsor.

How It Works:

  1. Your large rubber duck and voting bucket will be provided by us.
  2. Use creativity to tastefully decorate your duck. Paint it, dress it up, Sharpie it, etc. Be sure to include representation of your business, organization, or individual name as part of the decoration.
  3. Once decorated, display at your business, organization, etc. and collect "votes". Every $1 collected equals 1 vote! Votes can be collected through the event date. Collect enough votes to win "Most Wanted Duck" award. You are welcome to "help" your duck win by stuffing the voting bucket full of cash.
  4. Decorated ducks and voting buckets (with collected votes) are then to be delivered to Kara Lambourn at ChoiceOne Bank (83 W. Nepessing St, Downtown Lapeer) no later than 4pm the Wednesday prior to event date. If you are unable to meet that deadline, please contact us at [email protected] so that other arrangements can be made.
  5. All decorated ducks will then be on display in the main tent at our annual Rubber Duck Dash event held at Cramton Park in Lapeer. Ducks will continue to collect votes at the event from 11am-2pm. We encourage you to come and support us and participate in our event.
  6. After voting has closed, votes will be counted and the "Most Wanted Duck" award will be determined by the duck that has raised the most money in votes. Kiwanis members will then choose the winner of the "Best Decorated Duck" award.
  7. After the event, all ducks will be showcased at Gallery 194 (Downtown Lapeer) in the outdoor display windows. Ducks will be on display for 4 weeks after which they will be returned to you. Should you decide to participate again next year (which we hope you do) a new duck will be provided to you, or you may choose to use previous year's duck.
